Hi, Jing:
Thank you for your suggestions.

I took a look at your website again. I found you have
revised it. It looks more organized and colorful than
before. It's great! Since your wdbsite is informative,
simple color is a good choice. However I have a couple of
suggestions, that maybe you want to consider;

1. Maybe you want to add a button for "How to use" at left
column, that one could also click on it to get information
on that page.
2. I wonder it has different meanings for the different
colors you used for those button at left column. Only two
have different background colors compared with the others.
If they are at the same level with "CREATE RESEARCH IDEAS",
I bet you want to make them the same front and size.

I hope these ideas help with your project. You have a great
and usful website. Nice job!

Jing,

This is the second time I explore your studio project, Grant
Application Manager. I like its style, color combination and great
user interactivities. You made big progress on its appearance after
you showed me first time. After taking a careful look, I have the
suggestions for you. I look forward to seeing your project at the
Showcase day.

1. In the welcome page, you need to correct the sentence "The third
part is help me to write grant proposals."
2. In the welcome page, when you mention the 1st part, 2nd part, you
might need to give the full name of the part, like Part1, create
conceptual space. Because I notice there is beyond 4 parts on the menu
and people could not understand which part you are talking about.
3. On the left side, my browser showed two links have the different
color background. That looks some errors happend on the page
translation.
4. On the left side, when the mouse was over links, some of them
change colors, some of them do not.
5. On the left side, I know I can click the biggest picture to go back
home. But maybe a hint is necessary to let people know where to go
back home.
6. On your first part, creat conceptual space, when I filled out some
blanks and submitted, I got the same page but people usually expect
the results after they submitted something. My suggestion is directing
to the part 2 Select Conceptual Space after people submitted on part
1.
7. The same thing described above happened on the following parts.
8. These are just my personal suggestions from an user friendly
aspect. I might miss something and gave a wong suggestion:-) We can
talk about them on our next class.

This is a great project that researchers will love to use.

- Yue

Hi Jing
Your project, Grant Application Manager is professional and
helpful. You have a powerful database. I like the
idea “write proposal” and “seek funding” in your project.
There are a few suggestions I have for you that I think would
improve your web site. The picture you put in the right part
of website might be transparent. It will not be clear. The
right part looks good but I think you can try text color
white and darker for your green and blue line. When your
cursor moves over, it appears another color. It will be more
obvious. In organize work process; you can sort the data by
date. You can put organize work process after “Generate
Ideas” Hope these suggestions help, I look forward to seeing
the final product.

Hi - and congratulations on a well-done and ambitious project. This will be
a great resource.

The design of the project is well thought-out. I have been looking at the
site as the semester has gone on and am impressed with the product you've
made.

I like the idea of being able to type in ideas for conceptual space. In my
grantwriting experience, I have used several online resources to assist in
the process.

The design of your project and the wealth of information will serve you
well. The flow of the pages was easy to follow. The project had a pleasing
design, but was appropriately simple for its purpose. The web sites you
selected will be a great resource and will lead you to others that you can
add in as your resource library grows..

As an outsider, I found the Select Conceptual Space a little confusing, but
that may just be my logic not working in this format.

The "How to use this website" link is very hard to see and should maybe be
moved to the left margin.

Hi, Jing.

First of all, what a terrific and useful idea for a website. Researchers the world over will thank you for the system you are putting at their fingertips that will aid them in organizing and thinking through the grant possibilities for their projects!

I am glad you were with me when I first navigated through the website. I was a bit unclear about the steps I needed to take—I needed you there to give me instructions. This is early in your design, I know, so I suspect that clarity will develop with time.

I found the aesthetic look of the site serviceable, but it didn't draw me in. As you explained to me, however, this is just a preliminary look as you develop the nuts and bolts of the site—the aethetics will come later. I'm looking forward to seeing how the site progresses.

Hi, Jing.

Wow. What a lot of work you've done on your site! It has really come together well. For starters, the look is inviting and aesthetically pleasing. I like the changes you've made in the nav bar—the colors meld well and present the elegant but studious tone that strikes me as appropriate for your goal.

But the biggest delight is in the work you've done in the research support functions of the site. The “Seek Funding,” “Write Proposals,” and “Organize Work Process” pages will be so useful to a researcher beginning a project. They all show significant work and thought and are easy to navigate. I had a little harder time with the “Create Research Ideas” section. For some reason, since I could not see the submit bar at the bottom of the screen, I kept forgetting to submit my entries. I did this several times, even though I knew better, which just shows how slow I am. Perhaps a reminder at the top of the page to submit the entries would help dunderheads like me!

In class Thursday, I had no problem with the “Generate Ideas” function, but from my home computer today, I couldn't get it to work. I would submit my Conceptual Spaces, but the screen would just reappear with my boxes still checked. Was I doing something wrong?

Again, I think this is a terrific project that will benefit many people. Way to go!
